After having to put down a £20 deposit for the special version of Fallout 4, due to the limited quantities GAME have in stock, some people who pre-ordered are saying that they’ve gotten a message from GAME that states that their chosen form of payment isn’t going through. “What this means”, says the retailer, “is that we cannot collect payment or ship your order right now”, however, many of those who have received this message are also saying that their payment methods are fine and that they have more than enough money to pay for the Pip-Boy Edition, so the message is unusual to say the least.
However, that’s not the only thing that suggests that this a problem on GAME’s end, rather than the customers’. One customer has posted an image on Imgur containing previous correspondence with GAME about their order of the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition. In the messages, not only does GAME ask the customer to cancel their existing order and to order again, but the retailer also admits to a problem on their end but says that they hadn’t charged the customer the £20 deposit (though the customer says that the retailer charged them £10.05 and they have a bank statement as proof of this).
Plus, given that a similar issue occurred with GAME when people ordered the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain Collector’s Edition (technical errors led to almost 400 people being incorrectly charged) it’s not difficult to believe that the same thing is happening here.
Frustratingly, there’s very little information to go on in terms of when this will all be fixed as customers are also reporting that phone calls to GAME’s customer service team are either going unanswered or that, once the call has gone through, they are either being hung up on or being left on hold for over an hour. Unfortunately, GAME is the only place in the UK where the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition is available so with these orders held up it’s unclear whether fans will be able to play the game once Fallout 4 launches next week.
Fallout 4 will be available November 10th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
