Reddit user Sunshinetidings recently shared a Fallout 4 video in which they happened upon a Deathclaw hiding in a destroyed building next to a waterfall caused by a sewage pipe. Traditionally in Fallout 4, Deathclaws will attack with great ferocity just from being in close proximity, and one is encountered early in the game as players discover the first set of Power Armor. This armor can be helpful in defeating an average Deathclaw and can be found all around the Boston commonwealth, with some players having already collected armies of Power Armor. In this case, though, no Power Armor was needed.

Sunshinetidings’ Fallout 4 clip begins with the player observing the peaceful Deathclaw from afar, as they contemplate the danger with a VATS check on the creature prior to stepping into its ruins. The Deathclaw gets up and does what looks like a dance as Sunshinetidings approaches, but the player holds their fire and performs one more VATS check before reloading their rifle. Sunshinetidings then looks around their surroundings and at their companion Nick Valentine as they inch close enough to the Fallout 4 Deathclaw to see its smaller details.
The peaceful Deathclaw in Sunshinetidings’ never attacks the Fallout 4 player, even when they are close enough to touch it with their Pip-Boy 3000; potentially one of the strangest reactions from the powerful beast. Because Fallout 4 can be modded in various ways, some modders have created a Deathclaw companion, but the one in Sunshinetidings’ video doesn’t seem to be moving anywhere without initiating combat. According to Sunshinetidings, this Deathclaw can be found by doing a quest from Bunker Hill which tasks players with getting Grampa Gramaldi’s hat, an item that can be found nearby.
Although some Fallout 4 fans have suggested that Sunshinetidings came across one of the quest-related Deathclaws that wants its eggs, which is part of The Devil’s Due from Museum of Witchcraft, Sunshinetidings states that this one is entirely different. The top response to Sunshinetidings’ Fallout 4 clip informs players that Deathclaws such as the one in the video aren’t to be taken lightly and can result in jump scares, with some fans voicing similar experiences that caused them to briefly panic as well.
Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
