While the devs call it a ‘DLC-sized mod’ of Fallout 4, Fallout London basically looks like it was built from the ground up, and it’s actually roughly the same size as the base game. A ‘mod’ of that size deserves to be called a game in its own right. Team Folon recently released a nearly 20-minute long gameplay video that showcases what budding fans of the Fallout series can look forward to enjoying.

All About the Fallout London Mod
The gameplay trailer starts with, of course, players being observed while floating in mysterious liquid by even more mysterious scientists. The pinnacle of systemized human science in games. These scientists turn out to be voiced by the Sixth and Seventh Doctors of the massively popular sci-fi series, Doctor Who – Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy, respectively – who take players through their character creation.
From looks to stats, players are taken through a typical Fallout character creation screen before strange circumstances cause them to be left to their own devices, liquid drained from their test tube and players begin their escape from the curious underground lab by smashing through said tube. Stumbling their way through the lab, sounds of gunfire can be heard, and players face their first enemy with their bare hands – Radshrews – before coming across the British version of the Pip Boy, the Atta Boy.
The Fallout London gameplay trailer takes viewers through the underground lab, before they make their way to the famed London Underground – the London Bridge Station, to be exact – complete with realistic sounds one would come across as they make their way through an Underground station. They meet the enigmatic ‘Mr Smythe’, who was named by the scientists met earlier, who helps players make their final escape, and off they go on their merry British-Fallout adventure, onto an ‘Underground’ train that takes players above ground – showing off the post-apocalyptic London players can look forward to exploring. Fun fact: there are 156 London Underground stations that are above ground, and the London Bridge station isn’t one of them.
Fallout London is set in the year 2237, which places it roughly in between Fallout and Fallout 2 and imagines the effects of the Resource Wars beyond the borders of the United States of America. Players will utilize the London Underground to get from location to location, giving non-British a look into the great railway project that it is, and three areas that they can look forward to exploring are the London boroughs of Westminster (the seat of power in Britain), the market town Bromley, and formerly dangerous Hackney. Expect to learn about pre-war Europe, and even more about pre-war Britain throughout this brilliantly-made Fallout fan mod.
The player character is unnamed, and doesn’t seem to warrant one, according to Mr Smythe. During character creation, there wasn’t a segment where players could name the character they had created. Instead, the mysterious G-Man fellow only refers to players as a ‘Wayfarer.’ Not much more information has been given as to the origins of the Wayfarer, nor how they got into this mess in the first place. Hopefully, more information will come about, or, better yet, prospective players can get their personal hands-on experience with Fallout London soon – and it should be great considering that Bethesda hired one of the modders.
Fallout 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
