According to the Interplay President, the game has been in a playable state for at least a year. Interplay has also been dropping hints in their newsletters to those who are eagerly awaiting the MMO. When asked for details about the MMO, Caen had this to say:
Interplay also has plans for a beta test, as most developers of MMO’s do. If all goes according to plan, we’ll get a chance to taste what Interplay is cooking up in a little over a year. In addition, some light is shed on what kind of gameplay the MMO will offer. Says Caen:
Reconstruction will surely bring something unique back to the Fallout universe, and Interplay certainly aims to take Fallout back from Bethesda. Eric wasn’t shy on his thoughts of how they’ve treated the series, either:
Humor may indeed be missing from Fallout 3 and recently released New Vegas, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had. Sure, many of us still have to wait for that New Vegas patch in order to experience some of that fun, but there’s no doubt that it is there.
For the Ranters out there that have been playing Fallout since the early days, what would you like to see Interplay inject into the universe that Bethesda hasn’t? Is creating an MMO the most appropriate way for Interplay to revisit the franchise, or would you rather see another single player outing? And for the Ranters whose first exposure to Fallout was Fallout 3, does the thought of sharing the world with your friends excite you? What do you want to see? Let us know in the comments below.
The Fallout MMO is scheduled to release in 2012.
