As seen in the footage below for Fallout: New California, Radian Helix Media has put together an incredibly sizable total conversion mod of New Vegas that includes an original story, side quests, and eight companions. Work on the project’s side quests is still ongoing it seems, as fans will have to wait until October 23, 2018 for its official release. However, its developers have announced that there will be beta signups in July to test the main quest line.

For those unaware, Radian Helix Media has been working on Fallout: New California for the past five years, and it has understandably been a massive undertaking for its creators due to the sheer scope of the mod. Originally dubbed “Project Brazil”, the mod has definitely made huge strides, with the sum of its parts so far adding up to a standalone campaign and story that would do both Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment proud.

The narrative for Fallout: New California acts as an unofficial prequel of sorts for New Vegas, as it features a fresh story revolving around a new player character who happens to be an adopted resident of Vault 18. Their journey will take them through the Wastelands of the New California Republic’s Cajon Pass, where each decision and action taken will influence the surface’s conflict between the NCR, Survivalist Army, and Super Mutants, as each faction is vying for supremacy.

Taking all of this into consideration, Radian Helix Media definitely have one of the most promising and sumptuous mods with New California, and there are surely a bevy of Fallout fans waiting to sink their teeth into its content. With this being the case, should another work-in-progress mod known as The Frontier hit its aimed launch date around the end of 2018, then New Vegas devotees will have plenty of fantastic fan-made materials to keep them busy in the Wasteland for a long time to come.

Fallout: New California is set to launch on October 23, 2018 through Nexus Mods and Mod DB.
