At the moment, however, it’s unclear as to whether this release will expand to other consoles. Bethesda marketing executive Pete Hines was asked about when a potential Fallout Shelter release would be coming to PS4 over on Twitter, and the response will not exactly inspire confidence from owners on the Sony console after a Fallout Shelter experience. “Dunno,” said the vice president of PR and marketing. “We didn’t make it for Xbox. We made it for universal windows platform, which supports a variety of devices.”

Unfortunately for PS4 owners, this universal platform does not include support for the Sony system, which Hines reiterated in a follow-up Tweet, as shown by GameSpot. “Universal windows app does not include PS4 support,” said Hines in response to another query.

Although this does not rule out an eventual PS4 release, it certainly seems as though releasing Fallout Shelter on the console is not a huge priority right now. As it stands, a release on Xbox One appears to have been a more simple feat, whereas porting the game to PS4 would require much more effort in terms of development. Because of this, PS4 users may have to rely on their old mobile saves to enjoy the game.

Since Fallout Shelter’s original launch, the game has managed to keep up a fairly strong base of support. That’s in part down to the level of additional content that has been steadily released for the title, with the game even receiving a Christmas update at the end of last year. That’s without even mentioning a major update that added brand new features.

Unfortunately, it may well be that PS4 users will not be able to play the title on their preferred device any time soon. Whether the game will eventually see release on the system, or on other consoles such as the upcoming Nintendo Switch, only Bethesda will be able to decide. Hopefully, further releases will appear in future.
