[HTML1] It’s been two years since the release of Battlefield 3 and its successor is now available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, with next-gen consoles versions releasing in the coming weeks. We played through what we believe to be the quintessential version of Battlefield 4 (the PC edition) for our review, praising it for adding improvements to core gameplay elements, but faulting it for its lack of modes, maps, absent features and bugs....

As of right now, fans of Interplay Productions’ original Fallout have a little less than 24 hours left to claim the free title through Valve’s digital distribution platform, with the offer expiring at 11:59 PM PT on Saturday, September 30. In a series dubbed “Fallout 3: The Cutting Room Floor,” YouTube channel TriangleCity is going through different aspects of the game detailing interesting cut content from Fallout 3. Previous Fallout 3 videos from the content creator include “GURPS in Fallout 3?!,” “Fallout 3 Cut Weapons,” and “More Fallout 3 Cut Content.” Their latest video is perhaps TriangleCity’s most interesting entry in the series yet, as it’s an hour-long delve into cut content from Fallout 3’s main storyline broken into several different key sections....

To be honest, the typical production cycle has conditioned us to believe that once a developer makes a title’s existence public knowledge, then there will be a year-long wait for its availability at the very least. Although, thankfully, Bethesda’s philosophy on the matter is more progressive and unique, as Pete Hines, the studio’s Vice President of Marketing, explained to DualShockers during gamescom 2015 that announcing the game toward the tail-end of its development just felt right....

This specific vault features its own quest wherein the player must uncover what happened in the place all those years ago. The “Vault 75” quest immediately triggers when the player starts exploring Malden Middle School. This can be found southwest of the Greentop Nursery settlement. The latest modification to make some waves is a modification called the Traits and More Perk, which does exactly what it sounds like. While the mod scene has seen perks aplenty roam around, this modification also brings back traits, a series-staple feature missing from both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4. The mod comes courtesy of Cirosan, who keen-eyed viewers may also remember as the creator behind the Full Dialogue Modification from two months ago....

In the Fallout series, the Pip-Boy — also known as a Personal Information Processor — is a piece of equipment given to Vault Dwellers, giving the player access to information including their stats, a rundown of their current inventory and a way to access the world map. Fallout 4 marks the first time in the series where players will be able to wear a ‘real’ Pip-Boy on their arm to help fully immerse themselves in the post-apocalyptic experience....

Reddit user Jake3245 recently posted a clip in which they’re trying to access the Overseer’s terminal in the early Fallout 4 location of Vault 111. Given that the Fallout 4 video takes place in the first Vault, Jake3245’s clip could have taken place at any moment in their save, though they seem to have some skill points beyond the introductory stats. There are many reasons Fallout 4 players have to return to Vault 111 beyond exploration as it also has hidden loot like the Cryolator and Red Menace minigame for the Pip-Boy and environmental storytelling that may have gone unnoticed during an initial playthrough....

This is my dilemma in Fallout 4. While Fallout 4 is hardly the first game to employ character favor mechanics where the player’s actions and choices make an impact on their companion or party members, I’m not so sure that Bethesda handled it well. Prior games going back as far as Baldur’s Gate have offered character fondness mechanics, but they were more in-depth, linear, character-driven titles. While Fallout companions will only have brief conversations with the protagonist, gamers could spend hours discussing the in-game world with their party in Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age....

Although the Fallout 4 director has confirmed that the studio is currently planning out the DLC, Howard didn’t share specifics as to what may or may not be in the preliminary pipeline. Regarding the matter, the Bethesda executive said: [HTML1] Fallout 4’s expansion packs were reported as being available for pre-order way before Bethesda even had a clue about what kind of gameplay would be included, which prompted waves of criticism online....
